There are essentially three types of dandruff:
- Thick, Greasy & Scaly
- Dry & Scaly
- False (Due to Product Build-up on Scalp & Hair)
There are a variety of in-salon treatments which can be applied to assist with all of the above. A great intensive treatment is 'Kerastase Peeling Purifant' which can then be followed up with a home programme of 'Kerastase Bain Gommage' for dry dandruff or 'Bain Divalent' for greasy dandruff.
Treating Dandruff Conditions
With all dandruff conditions it is important to treat your scalp with care, using tepid water and massaging shampoo and conditioner with a light pressure to avoid any scalp particle release. If you apply too firmly then you will be liable to over activate the sebaceous glands and increase a greasy dandruff condition.
Deep Cleansing False Dandruff
In the case of false dandruff it is important to use a deep cleansing shampoo to remove any product build up completely. 'Paul Mitchell Number 3' and 'Redken Retaliate Anti-Dandruff' are both excellent at clearing all residual products after a thorough rinse and available now from Wantthelook.
