How to get the look…

Any fashionista will know that there is a serious 80's revival for the Autumn/Winter look.  This comeback doesn't just apply to clothes but is also having a big influence on hair and make-up too!

To achieve that real 80's look but with a modern feel try pulling your hair back tightly and twisting it into a bun.  Finish with some spray wax or try Tigi's Wax Stick to get a high shine finish.

Alternatively, crimping seems to be back with a vengeance!  Although the 80's are back we've now learnt our lesson that less is more.  Our advice would be if you're going to go with the 80's crimping style then try and keep the clothes simple and let your hair stand out!

  1. Try using Bumble and bumble's Grooming Creme to give your bun a polished, finished look.  This product has the added advantage of moisturising the hair whilst also acting as a great styling aid.

  2. Whatever 80's look you're going for finish it off with a great hairspray.  Try using Tigi's Masterpiece Hairspray to get a medium hold with a high shine finish.
  3. If you're brave enough to go down the crimping route start by using a volumising shampoo and conditioner to give you hair some omph!  Try Paul Mitchell's Extra-Body Daily Shampoo and Extra-Body Daily Rinse.

How to get the look…

You only need look at the hair colour donned by the popular X-Factor judges Cheryl Cole and Danni Minogue to know that chocolate colour tones are very much in style this season!  Sophisticated, rich and vibrant shades are set to be BIG this autumn/winter.  These rich, dark colours compliment cool, porcelain skin tones perfectly, whilst also looking great on olive complexions too.

The 80's revival has been having a huge influence on the fashion industry this autumn/winter and this has followed through to hair and make-up too.  Bold, bright colours were popular on the Catwalk's and will be making their way to a salon near you too!

If you're in doubt as to what shade will suit you then seek some professional advise.  Book a colour consultation with a colour technician at any good, reputable salon and they will help you to determine what shades will suit your skin tone.

Remember, colour fades fast, so guard against colour fade by using a shampoo and conditioner dedicated to coloured hair.

  1. Bain Miroir 1 - Protect and maintain longlasting colour with Kerastase's Reflection range.  This amazing shampoo helps to keep coloured hair looking bright and glowing with radiance.  For best results use in conjunction with Masque Chroma Reflect.
  2. Try one of Aveda's colour shampoo's such as Clove Shampoo.  These organic cleansers are designed to enhance your colour tone as well as clean your hair!
  3. Make sure that you use a product that will guard against UV damage.  UVA andUVB rays are key factors in causing colour fade.  Either use a dedicated sun protection spray for your hair such as Kerastase Micro-Voile Protecteur or make sure that any haircare or styling product that you use has built in UV protection.
